The Guild's Mission.
Minnesota Makers and Artists Guild is a 501c3 Nonprofit dedicated to providing the space, tools, expertise, and advocacy for Southern Minnesotans to create anything.
We've been providing resources to the visual art community at Mankato Makerspace since 2017 & are in the midst of growing the resources we offer for culinary & performing artists.
Space, Tools, Expertise & Advocacy
The Guild is dedicated to facilitating creativity for all. Entrepreneurs, hobbyists, artists, and tinkerers alike can find the space, equipment, knowledge, and community necessary to pursue their creative goals.
The Mankato Makerspace serves visual artists and makers with classes in woodworking, metalworking, ceramics, jewelry, lapidary, print making, leatherwork, textiles, technology, fine art, painting, and more. Members of the Makerspace have access to the shops within, enabling them to create amazing things.

We're growing our organization to enhance access to culinary and performing arts. Translating the educational and membership model we've grown at Mankato Makerspace to a culinary space, and performing arts center will make Mankato a creative hub in the region.

MMAG History
In 2015, Mankato artists Rick Esser & Kendrick Daum proposed creating a community studio where artists from all backgrounds would have access to learn and create anything. The 501(c)3 entity Minnesota Makers and Artists Guild was created with the goal of securing a physical space for the Makerspace vision to come to life.

Mankato Makerspace opened its doors February 22, 2018. Since then, the space has grown to a membership of 50+ with an extensive educational offering that cultivates creativity and self-sufficiency in Mankato and the Southern Minnesota Region.

In 2024, The Guild launched a strategic plan to expand its mission and reach. Focusing first on a an expansion of Mankato Makerspace, the Guild and its amazing volunteers aims to increase the community's access to creativity in the visual arts and beyond.
